Fair Grove head coach Tim Brown said Kesterson is among the state’s premier shooters in the Class of 2017.
“He is one of the best shooters in the state of Missouri,” Fair Grove head coach Tim Brown said. “He has expanded his game and is able to play above the rim. A 6-foot-4 (shooting) guard that can play above the rim and step out and make shots ia a tough match-up.
“I think he is one the best guards in the state, definitely in Class 3, and I am glad he is on our team.”
However, Kesterson said he tries to bring more to the team that just his scoring abilities.
“I am a good shooter, but I think I bring more in the way of leadership,” Kesterson said. “I just try to make sure that everybody is under control, just like my brother (senior point guard Mason Kesterson). Me and him try to make sure everything is under control and running right.”
Kesterson said he hopes to focus on getting better at attacking the basket and becoming a better defender during the offseason as he gears up for his senior season.
“I need to become a better defender and get quicker on the ball,” he said.
Although he hasn’t drawn much recruiting interest to date, Kesterson is likely to draw some attention this summer. Hehas played for the Missouri Gym Rats and said the experience has helped his game grow.
“They don’t call it as tight there and it is way more physical,” Kesterson said.
