Scouting Report
Northwest Academy
Charles James 5’8″ PG (2016): A super quick point guard who plays at a high rate of speed at all times. At his best when in transition when he can operate in the open court. Scored 11 points before leaving the game with an ankle injury late in the game. He is a much better shooter on dribble penetration that he is off the catch. Would be a good get for a small college.
Maurice Golden 6’8″ PF (2016): An improving big who has made tremendous strides this season. Has developed into a good rebounder and shot blocker around the basket. Keeps the ball high at all times when he catches the ball. Had 13 points and 12 rebounds and blocked several shots. His best basketball is way ahead of him.
Jamarr Williams 6’5″ PF (2018): A meat-and-potatoes power forward who does most of his damage around the basket. He is an excellent offensive rebounder. Gets good position and finishes strong in the lane. In the next few years, must start to develop a go-to move in the post and expand his skill-set.
Rayonte Childs 5’10” PG (2018): Speedy left-handed point guard who really came through in the fourth quarter, when he scored 14 of his 19 points. He constantly got in the lane and displayed a nice shooting touch with the floater. Sealed the game with five free throws down the stretch.
Lift for Life Academy
Nigel Ferrell 6’2″ SG (2016): Excellent scoring guard who has a masterful spin move, ala Earl “The Pearl” Monroe. Struggled with his shot in the second half, but still finished with 11 points. Does a nice job creating shots off the dribble and has a excellent mid-range game. Would make a nice small college prospect because he can get buckets.
Marcus Bryant 5’11” PG (2016): Slick ball-handling point guard who has the ability to get to the basket. More of a pass-first point guard who does not look to shoot much, but has the ability to score when he needs to. Strong on the dribble and handles pressure well. Also finished with 11 points.
Montez McMath 6’5″ PF (2016): Long, athletic power forward who is very active and effective around the basket. Showed a nice jump hook on the baseline in the low post. Very good rebounder on both ends of the court. Should be a good small college prospect as a power forward.
Jarmon Williams 6’4″ PF (2016): Big-bodied forward who can be a good “Stretch 4” at a small college program. Very strong around the basket in terms of his rebounding and positioning. He also can step out and knock down open 3-point shots on the pick-and-pop.
