Coble averages 28.0 points per game but doesn’t just score the ball, he passes it extremely well gaining 5.5 assists per game. Coble is extremely long and aggressive on defense pulling in 8.6 rebounds a game and adding 2.7 steals as well.
In years past Coble has been a guy who was known to be able to shoot the ball from deep really well but this year he has added in the ability to drive and finish. Coble shows a wide variety of shots from runners, floaters, banks, and the list goes on and on. Once he gets into the lane you can bet the ball will go into the net. But if you help over on him he has no problem kicking the ball out to a teammate which makes him even more dangerous.
“My biggest improvement is getting to the basket,” Coble said. “I couldn’t do that last year at all. I was kind of just a perimeter player. I worked on it with my AAU coach, who I give a lot of credit to. I can now get to the bucket and create for myself.”
Coble is a bit under recruited and can play with almost anyone as he showed against Tri-West earlier this year when he scored 37 points and hit 5/6 from deep. Any doubt of him being only a one-trick guy was answered when later in the year in the Putnam County Classic he scored 68 points, grabbed 32 rebounds and dished out 14 assists in back to back games showing he can be the primary ball handler or also play off the ball.
“(Where I play) depends on what level I go to,” Coble said. “I see myself at the point, maybe an off ball guard but I think I’m a little small for that at the college level.”
So far this year Coble has had a little bit of an uptick in recruitment as so far this year as Belhaven, Benedictine, Cornerstone, Judson, MacMurray, Trine, Trinity International, and William Penn have all shown interest. Coble has visited both MacMurray and Judson with Judson being his lone offer thus far.
“Anywhere in the Midwest I feel pretty comfortable,” Coble said. “I want to stay within about eight hours. I want to be close to my mom just in case anything happens and be able to come back.”
Coble will be in action next on March 2nd at the Frankfort sectional as Greencastle takes on Western Boone.
