A year ago, the 6-foot-3 Short mostly came off the bench for a Rolla squad that went 26-3 overall, captured a Class 4 district title, and earned a share of the Ozark Conference championship when they knocked off state ranked Kickapoo.
This year, Short has stepped into the starting line-up and has emerged as one of the area’s premier all-around offensive players. He has helped Rolla to another big season as the Bulldogs are 23-2 this season and finished the Ozark Conference slate 8-1 for the second straight season.
“Logan is that really great athlete, and he is a guy who, when he is really working, he’s hard to stop,” Rolla head coach Mark Miller said. “He can get get to the rim on you; he can shoot the three ball extremely well. He has good handles and he is a bigtime rebounder for us. When he goes to get it there isn’t anybody who is going to take it away from him. He gets up.
“Logan is the guy who keeps everybody loose — fun loving, hard woking kid.”
Short says he is a spot-up shooter that can, “Attack when others aren’t. I rebound, both on the offense and defense ends. I am a lock-down defender.”
Short, who holds offers from Ottawa (Kan.) and Westminster, has also drawn interest from William Jewel and North Arkansas. He says he hopes to make a decision about his playing future by graduation.
He says he is still working on various aspects of his game, most notably getting stronger and more physical.
“I’ve got to get more more physical,” Short said. “I’ve got to toughen up and get stronger. I got to rebound better and play better defense overall.”
