Although he hasn’t totally committed to one sport or the other for college, Member-Meneh admits to be leaning towards track. He expects to make his decision in the early spring.
“I’m going to know by the beginning of March what I’m going to decide what to do,” Member-Meneh said. “My favorite sport depends of which season it is. I’ve always loved both sports, but I might be leaning on the track side right now.”
A four-year starter at Lutheran South, Member-Meneh began his career as an athlete who could make plays with his ability to jump and slash to the basket on drives. As a senior, he has developed his skills to become an excellent all-around player.
As a senior, Member-Meneh is averaging 18.6 points and 4.1 rebounds a game while shooting 52 percent from the field, 39 percent from 3-point range and 72 percent from the free throw line. He has led the Lancers to an 18-6 record heading into next week’s Class 4 district playoffs.
“I’ve worked with a couple of people and they told me that I was a great athlete, but I just needed to slow down and work on my fundamentals,” he said. “If I worked on my jump shot a little more, it will all come naturally.”
The biggest development in Member-Meneh’s game is the emergence of his jump shot. He gets great elevation on his mid-range jumper and has knocked down 39 percent from 3-point range. That has made him even more dangerous to defend.
“I’ve put in a lot of time in the gym working on my jump shot,” he said. “It has really added to my game and it makes me feel good. I wanted to really go off during my senior year and leave my mark here at Lutheran South. I just wanted to let everyone know that Lutheran South will be a force to be reckoned with now and in the future.
Lutheran South is the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Class 4, District 3 Tournament at Festus.
