It has given him the chance to improve in that aspect, even if college coaches are looking for him to be a point guard at the next level.
“Over the summer I was playing more point guard and now I’m off the ball more, and I’m just doing what I have to do to win and get better,” McNeal said.
McNeal said he prefers playing on the ball, and his abilities as the point guard have garnered interest from Div. I programs. He said he has heard from Western Illinois, Belmont, UMKC and IUPUI. The coaches have said they like the No. 52 recruit in the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 100’s ability to create for others, his defensive intensity and the size and quickness he would bring as a point guard.
He is also continually trying to improve his overall game as he adjusts to playing off the ball.
“Definitely working on my defensive stance and staying out of foul trouble, and my off the dribble pull-up,” McNeal said. “Most of my shots are spot up right now, so just working all over on my game.”
McNeal hasn’t created a timeline for making a decision and has yet to take any unofficial or official visits.
“I’m just worried about the season and when that ends, we’ll see what happens,” he said.
