The 6-foot-4 Hamilton Southeastern senior said he plans to make his decision after talking with his mom in the next week or two.
He said he is down to two schools with Albion College and Vincennes and they offer different paths and possibilities.
“To get onto something like that (two-year program), me and my mom are shooting for something smaller to kind of get the hang of things and kind of get in the groove of the actual basketball system and try to work my way up to a four-year university because we feel there is still a lot of improvement I could work on,” Tapplar said.
Tapplar has already visited both schools and spent time with the teams and coaching staffs.
These programs told the rising senior he brings a lot of athleticism and intangibles to the court.
“They say my aggressiveness on the court, my leadership and just the way I move around on defense, like taking charges and knowing what’s happening on the court,” Tapplar said about what the coaches like about his game.
While Tapplar is making his final decision, he is still continuing to harness his game and his mental abilities on the court as he helps the Royals prep for the postseason in the coming weeks.
“More a focus part for me,” Tapplar said. “Know I go through the game and missed a couple easy points … biggest struggle is staying focused on the task at hand. It can get crazy with the noises and everything, people yelling, screaming my name. I think the focus part has to be there.”
