Berry poured in a game-high 35 points and even threw down an alley-lop dunk. He is averaging 13.5 points per game this season and has helped lead Whitfield to a 18-5 record.
“He has been on the varsity for four seasons and he does a fantastic job in many aspects of the game,” Whitfield head coach Mike Potsou said. “He is another kid with a stellar GPA and is a great student with high character.”
Berry chose Rhodes College over Truman State and others. Rhodes is an NCAA Division III school located in Memphis, Tenn.
“I had a bunch of schools, but in the end I chose the school that was best for me,” Berry said.
“I just try to be a team member and play hard and in the end I just want to win,” Berry said. “I bring athleticism …”
Whitfield head coach Mike Potsou, interjected and completed Berry’s thoughts before he could finish.
“He is just a really good player,” Potsou said. “We are just very fortunate that he is going to have the opportunity to play collegiate basketball while having the opportunity to receive a top-notch education at Rhodes College. We obviously know he is a special talent. He had 35 points tonight and we are happy he is on our team.”
Berry spent the offseason competing for Team Ramey, preparing for his senior season and beyond.
“It is always good to play against good competition and that helps,” Berry said.
