Sectional 33 – Boone Grove
Sectional 33 could be a nice home field advantage for Boone Grove. It is a nice draw for them as they have the easiest road to the Championship game only having River Forest and Lake Station, two teams they have already beaten, in their way. Probably the best matchup of this Sectional could happen in the second round as Hammond Noll could face Bowman Academy. Boone Grove probably has the best chance but don’t be surprised if Bowman makes their case in the Championship game.
Sectional 34 – Knox
As we go through these Sectional previews, we will find quite a few instances where the best matchup is in the first round. That is the case here where Marquette Catholic takes on Winamac. The top three teams are on the bottom half of the bracket and the likely winner will come from the bottom. On the top half, the host Knox has the best record there at 6-15. As nice of a draw for them as you could ask for.
Sectional 35 – Westview
This is a fairly balanced draw pitting Fremont, Westview, and Whitko, the three best teams, in different areas of the bracket. The darkhorse here is Central Noble who is 4-1 against Sectional teams this year. The one loss is to their first round opponent Fremont. LaVille could make some noise as well but that also speaks to the parity in this Sectional. As up-for-grabs as you may come across this year.
Sectional 36 – Bluffton
The best team in the Sectional is Fort Wayne Canterbury and they get the lone bye game. The flipside is that they might face the next best team in the Sectional in Eastside in round two. Bluffton looks poised to make a nice run in this Sectional as well as they are on the opposite end. They have already beat their first round opponent twice.
Sectional 37 – Manchester
Much like Bluffton, the top three teams are again spread out and it makes for some potentially great second round games. Manchester vs. Southwood and Lewis Cass vs. Oak Hill could be the Friday matches and that would be as perfect as you could ask for. Oak Hill has been really, really good this year but they also haven’t faced Cass yet. Two really good 2A teams with size. Must-see Friday action.
Sectional 38 – Fountain Central
This is a very one-sided Sectional with Rossville, Covington, and Seeger all on the top half. Seeger has the bye and has also beaten Covington twice this season already. Rossville is rated as the best team in the Sectional but has the toughest road. On the opposite side, South Vermillion has the most wins at 6. The Championship game probably won’t be that entertaining but the top half of the bracket will be.
Sectional 39 – Elwood
This Sectional has been set up for a redemption game for Taylor. Eastern (Greentown) blew them out by 30 earlier in the season but Taylor has had a good season and is the next best competition in this Sectional to Eastern. If all holds even and we get the rematch of Taylor and Eastern in the finals, it will make for an interesting evening either way.
Sectional 40 – Lapel
The draw in this Sectional is fairly even. Lapel gets to see Frankton in the second round for a rivalry game with Wapahani possibly waiting on the bottom half of the bracket. Lapel is the clear favorite and they get to play at home, a place where they only have one loss this season and that is to Guerin Catholic.
