South Dakota Player of the Week: 12/28 – 1/2
This week’s candidates:
Brad Dean of Pierre TF Riggs (junior). Brad led the balanced Governors with 16 in the win over number one ranked Watertown and then scored 14 in the Yankton victory. Dean was huge in overtime versus Watertown making key foul shots and he swatted a late attempt into the stands at the buzzer to preserve the win.
Logan Busch of Beresford (senior). Logan Busch controlled the action against Irene-Wakonda scoring 27 points dominating the middle on both ends. He also had double-double numbers in a blowout win of Viborg-Hurley on New Year’s Eve and he had 17 points and ten boards in the game before that.
Jacob Hertz of Menno (junior). The 6-foot-7 Hertz scored 23 points with 11 rebounds in a win over Freeman Academy and more importantly has his team at 3-1 on the season with the only loss being to Hanson in overtime.
Ethan Kranhold of Sisseton (senior). His team is 4-1 after wins over St. Thomas More and Elk-Point Jefferson over the holiday. Ethan scored 52 points in his last three games and had a couple highlight finishes in the Aberdeen Civic Arena.
Grant Kohlus of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (senior). Over the Holiday the Braves won 2 of 3 games with Grant recording 24 points and eight boards against Douglas, Grant had 32 points including six treys, and nine boards versus Red Cloud, and 25 points and nine rebounds in a win over Todd County.
