Luke Seber
6’5 – SF – 2017
LUke looked really good tonight as he was scoring everywhere around the rim. Showed a little bit of his jump shot game tonight as he hit from the elbow. Long forward with a skinny frame but plays with plenty of toughness and didn’t show any standing down tonight. Agile and can move really well. Will play on the perimeter but sticks to the interior when looking to make plays or score. Can put the ball on the floor for a one-dribble move to get some room. Really liked his face-up game in the 10′ range. Able to get past his guy quick with one dribble. – 22 points, 9 rebounds
Luke Smith
5’10 – PG – 2017
Smith looked more like a volume scorer tonight than I’ve seen in past games. Only about 5’10 but strong kid with a great head for the game. Knows how to take control of the game and his team. Got in his players faces a bit to go over plays. He’s quick off the dribble with a good first step that creates enough separation for him to get to the rim and finish ahead of length. Didn’t finish well tonight but South Putnam did have some tough length inside to make things difficult. Would like to see him take a few more pullup jumpers than some of the forced shots he had tonight because when he did it looked really good. – 23 points, 3 rebounds
Max Newman
6’4 – PF – 2019
Newman might be a kid to watch in this class. Low post prospect with some meat on his bones and a solid lower half. Could work himself into a nice pick and pop guy as he showed some touch on his jumper and ability to set a solid screen. Moves pretty well and will put on a ton more weight down the road. Really interesting kid in the 2019 class. – 4 points, 2 rebounds
South Putnam:
Allen Plunkett
6’5 – SF – 2019
Plunkett was really good to start the game but he got a pair of fouls early and missed the entire second quarter. He picked up things big time to start the second half and kept it going the rest of the game. Allen is a 6’5 wing with some ball handling and decent touch beyond the three-point line. Really good athlete who can defend multiple positions because of his body but got lost a few times tonight. Offense is way ahead right now. Got to the line a ton late in the game because of his ability to handle the ball. Monrovia couldn’t stay in front of him. He has a ton of upside to tap into if everything goes right. Had 22 points on 6/9 shooting from the field. – 22 points, 10 rebounds
Dalton Scott
6’0 – PG – 2019
Scott is another young freshman to watch in this game. Strong guard who showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and go baseline. He ended up guard taller guards and forward in the post mainly because of his willingness to be a little physical and front them. Was the only guy outside of Plunkett to make more than one field goal for South Putnam. – 5 points, 3 rebound
