Cedric Mitchell
6’2 – SG – 2017
Mitchell is a solid off-guard option from the South Bend area. He was one of the best players in this game. He’s great in the open floor where he can use his speed to get out and ahead of defenders. Good body and strength and should be physically ready for the college game in a year. He didn’t show much of it but hit a nice jump shot early in the game. Need to see more to see how much of a weapon it is for him. Ball handling is okay but fits into the role of a two-guard pretty well. – 12 points
Michael Johnson
6’4 – SF – 2019
Johnson could be a guy to watch in a few years. A long 6’4 post forward who has some upside as he showed a nice jumper from the elbow and a solid spin on the block with a right handed finish. Decent frame and looks like he will get a little bit taller. 6’6 is definitely within the range of possibilities and maybe even bigger. Needs strength to help against defenders in the post because he looks really comfortable down on the block, more so than most at his age. – 4 points
Mishawaka Marian:
Jake Whitfield
5’11 – PG – 2016
Jake is a stocky point guard who was aggressive from start to finish of the game. Needs to pick his spots a lot better. Tends to want to score closer to the basket but gets into mismatches more than he should. He showed he could knock down a jumper but tends to lean towards rebound putbacks and block shots. Can handle the point well and is a guy you could look to if he cleans up his efficiency scoring the ball. – 13 points
Michael Hemingway
5’10 – PG – 2018
Mike got going a bit more in the second half after he was a little passive early on. He had a few really good drives at the rim in transition that looked like veteran moves and then a couple others that showed he is still just a sophomore. Hemingway is, physically, what you want in a point guard. Strong, tough-minded, and a really good ball handler. The few mistakes he had could be cut out if he slows down just a bit with his play. Likes to go 100 MPH but that doesn’t seem to be where he is able to play all the time, at least not yet. Talent is definitely there and with some polish he will be a nice college PG. – 10 points
Anthony Blum
6’4 – PF – 2016
Blum is an undersized forward who loves to play low in the post. Has nice size for a high school team but isn’t real strong yet. He struggled to finish in the post with efficiency. He did however, show he can be solid rebounder grabbing quite a few of his own misses and some of his teammates. Decent hands and is quick to get that second shot up. – 18 points
