As a junior, Rucker led Moberly to the Northeast Missouri Conference title and a district championship. For that to happen again, more would be required of Rucker as the only returning starter. In the month of December, the 6’6″ Rucker has delivered in every category imaginable.
Rucker is currently averaging 24.5 points, 13.1 rebounds and 6.3 assists while shooting 56 percent from the field. He had one game in which he had 36 points and 18 rebounds and another 22-point, 20-rebound performance. Rucker also won a game at the buzzer with a 3-pointer.
“I’m just being more aggressive,” Rucker said. “I worked on a lot of things over the summer to prepare myself for the load I was going to have to carry this year.”
One of the Rucker’s biggest improvements has been his 3-point shooting. He is currently shooting 47 percent from long distance.
“I’ve always been a pretty decent shooter, but I’ve improved greatly this season after an off-season of focusing on it a ton,” Rucker said. “I really made it a point of emphasis during the summer.”
Rucker’s six assists a game is also an impressive number for a player of his size who is also depended on so much to score.
“Maybe my best strength is my court vision and passing,” he said. “I feel like I make everyone around me better.”
Rucker is still looking for his first offer, but he has received interest from Division I schools such as SEMO and Southern Illinois and Division II schools such as Drury, Maryville, Northwest Missouri State and many more.
