A strong, athletic 6-foot-5 player who can play inside or outside, Davis is averaging 19.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.9 steals per game this season. He has been the Bulldogs most consistent offensive performer, scoring between 13 and 26 points in all 10 Grandview games this season.
“Davis is our most valuable player from last year,” Grandview head coach Reggie Morris said. “He is long and can do a lot of things on the floor. Can rebound, score, get assists. He is our most versatile, all-around player.”
“I can handle it and have an all-around game,” Davis said. “I can shoot, hit the pull-up and go to the basket. The good thing about me is I am tall, so I can post up and go straight to the basket.
“Rebounds, scoring and assists, I try to make the people around me better. Defensively, I am looking to guard the best player and try to stop them.”
Davis competed for MoKan Elite 16U during the offseason alongside some of the state’s most talented players.
“It was crazy, every team we played was ranked and it got me better because the high school talent is not like when you go to all the places that we went,” Davis said. “We went to out of town places and played against 7 footers.”
Davis said he is working on his dribble pull-up jumper and wants to find ways to help a Grandview team that is off to a 6-4 start.
“Team-wise we are very talented, we are young and inexperienced and at this point we are trying to find the right chemistry,” Morris said.
Davis doesn’t have any offers, but says he is drawing interest from a host of Division I schools, including Kansas State, Bradley, Northern Iowa, Drake and several others.
