A strong outside shooter, King is averaging 14 points per game this season after a strong summer playing with Kansas City based MoKan.. He recently helped the Wildcats take third place at the William Jewell Holiday Classic in Liberty (Mo.) and has helped the team to a 5-4 start.
“He is a great perimeter shooter,” Blue Springs head coach Adam Jones said. “He also has worked on his inside game, finishing at the rack really strong. Tyree is probably our best defensive player at this point. He is going to come full circle defensively from last year, his sophomore year. We expect big things out of him this year and next.”
King said he hasn’t made any contact with college coaches just yet, but expect that to change as the season progresses. He last played his grassroots basketball for MoKan Elite and said the experience made him, “more aggressive and a better defender.”
In the meantime, King said he is working on driving the ball to the cup and staying under control.
“My main ability is shooting the ball, but I’m also really good when I get to the rim,” he said.
