Leading the way is Logan Busch, a 6-foot-5 post player that was a player of the week candidate after a massive 27 point and 15 rebound performance against Irene-Wakonda.
“We’re 4-2 right now to start the season,” Logan told us before dropping a game to Dell Rapids. “We’ve improved with leadership and physicality this year to compete with the other teams. For us to get better over the season we’ll have to keep up are good defense and rebounding on both ends.”
Logan and his teammates have found a way to compete this year in a way that wasn’t present during the 2014-15 season.
“The first six games have been great,” Logan said. “I’ve had a few big games to help my team win as you are aware.
“The best moment I have seen so far is when we were down 15-5 in the first quarter of the West Sioux and didn’t give up right then. As of last year we would of given up. We have more fight this year.”
As far as Logan’s future, he had a big decision to make and it’s been made. After all, this is a guy that has been recruited for football, he’s been one of the best post players in the state for hoops, and he’s got a powerful baseball swing. But that is not all.
“I’m a four sport athlete, qualified and competed in the state golf meet this year,” Logan said. “And my decision came down to a D1 school (SDSU) or Juco school (Iowa Western) and I choose Iowa Western.”
