A 5-foot-11 guard, Wilson has an all-around skill set, about to come off ball screens and shoot or drive and is at his best in transition.
Wilson is averaging 8.5 points per game for a deep and well-balanced Blue Springs squad, and his high school coach Adam Jones says he brings energy and hustle to the floor.
“He is one of our guys who is always first to the floor for loose balls, takes a lot of charges,” Jones said. “He has got a great offensive transition game, and he has really worked on his jump shot and has gotten better at that as well.”
Wilson spent the offseason playing for KC Elite to open, then finished with the Missouri Hustle.
“I love AAU ball because of the environment and much energy fills the gym,” he said. “Also because you really get to play your game.”
Wilson said he is working on are being more vocal on defense and just setting up as a point guard and leader.
“Also I’m working on defense,” he said. “Here at Blue Springs we feel what decides if we win or lose is our defense. When we get out in passing lanes and speed up the opponent really creates steals for our team or turnovers for them. I feel I can always improve on defense.”
Wilson said he has drawn interest from North Central Missouri, Butler Community College and Nebraska Wesleyan, and recently picked up his first offer from St. Mary (Kan.) University.
“That was an exciting moment for me and my family,” he said.
