A 6-foot, 165-pound guard, Robinson is the midst of a big senior season and has helped lead his squad to an 8-2 record through the early going. After fielding interest from several schools, including Miami (Ohio), South Dakota State and UMKC, Robinson committed to Nebraska-Omaha on Sept. 9 and has signed a letter-of-intent to play at the school.
“He’s been the leader on our team for the last three years,” Blue Springs South head coach Jimmy Cain said. “He has a lot on his plate in every game. I think he enjoys that. He is a great talent, but he’s an even better kid.
“He’s obviously a focal point and he has the ball in his hands a lot. We’re still building chemistry and trust with all our newcomers and it is something that will be a work in progress throughout the season.”
Last year, Robinson was a integral part of a talented and deep team, but this year, much of the scoring responsibilities have fallen on his shoulders. Able to create his own shot off the bounce, Robinson has put up big scoring numbers for the Jaguars, averaging better than 25 points per game.
“I try to be a leader for the team, I am one of the only ones coming back so I try to lead my team and be a leader as the point guard,” Robinson said. “I know at the college level I am going to have to be vocal at that level — playing harder and playing hard all the time, I am working on my motor and getting ready for that next level.”
Robinson played for YOBO and head coach Victor Wlliams, who he said helped prepare him for his college career.
“We played for a great coach in Williams who played at Oklahoma State,” Robinson said. “He has been everything and a great inspiration to me. He always pushes us hard to get better every day.”
