Jordan Lathon, a 6-4 2018 PG, is helping guide a young, but talented Grandview team this season and last week helped the squad to a fifth-place finish at the William Jewell Tournament in Liberty, Mo.
Through nine games this season, Lathon is averaging 7.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals.
The numbers may not look overwhelming, but what Lathon brings to the table is an impressive set of tools. He has has elite athleticism with the ability to play above the rim and is an explosive athlete in the open floor.
“I control tempo and run the team,” Lathon said. “I get us in sets on botn ends and can create for teammates and myself.”
Grandview head coach Reggie Morris said Lathon also brings some leadership to a talented, but young team that has started the season 5-4.
“He is a high IQ guy, a floor general that sees the floor pretty well,” Morris said. “He can do a lot of things, get to the rim and create for his teammates.”
After a summer playing with Kansas City based MoKan Elite’s 15s, Lathon has started to draw interest from a variety of NCAA Division I schools.
He has drawn interest from Creighton, UMKC, Evansville, Wichita State, Nebraska, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Virginia and a host of others.
“I have only talked to a few about offering, they haven’t yet though,” he said.
