An athletic, 6-foot-7 left handed forward, Childs has helped the Titans to a fast start, including a 7-2 record, a championship of the William Jewell Tournament and most recently a 46-42 win over Columbia Rock Bridge.
Childs is averaging 22 points and 15 rebounds per game this season and is only scratching the surface of his potential according to Lee’s Summit West head coach Michael Schieber.
“He brings length, athleticism and the ability to defend multiple positions on the floor,” Schieber said. “I think the kid is just scratching the surface of how good he can be. Offensively, he is adding things to his game and and he gets more comfortable knocking down open shots, he’s hard to guard.”
“i bring leadership, rebounding and an inside game,” Childs said.
Childs competed during the offseason with Kansas City based Run GMC and said the experience helped his game grow.
“It has made me a batter player and I have gotten more aggressive and improved my skill set,” Childs said. “Everyone is bigger, stronger and faster.”
Childs has drawn interest from a host of college programs and currently has five offers, including Central Arkansas, Drake, UMKC, Missouri State and LIU Brooklyn.
Childs said he is still working on his ball handling and expanding his shooting range.
