An athletic forward with a versatile skill set that can affect the game at both ends of the floors, Miller is returning from injury and is working his way back into the Bulldog lineup.
Although the team is just 3-7 this season, head coach Zane Turner says the Bulldogs still have promise. The squad has lost a host of close games and played a tough schedule. On Tuesday they fell to Park Hill by three, and they will host Liberty North on Friday.
“Cameron broke his nose at the xx tournament and he is getting adjusted to the mask,” Turner said. “He gives us so much ability with rebounding, shot blocking and when he gets comfortable with the face mask I think he’ll get more comfortable scoring around the basket, which is what he gave us last year.”
Miller is a double-double machine as a junior, and while he has been slowed by injury somewhat this season, he showed what he was capable of at the William Jewell Tournament in the third-place game against Center, coming in off the bench to notch a double-double in limited minutes.
“I try and focus on getting rebounds, blocking shots and put backs,” Miller said. “I bring energy and motivation to the team.”
Miller is averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds per game, but much of that work has been done in limited playing time as he adjusts to face protection.
“We desperately need him and he has been a leader on this team and he is somebody that we lean on,” Turner said.
Miller is coming off a successful summer competing with Kansas City Premiere and said, “AAU gave me a peek at what varsity basketball was like before I made the varsity team and keeps me in shape in the summer.”
Miller said he is currently working on scoring with his back to the basket and dribble drive moves, but has already fielded one offer and drawn interest from several others.
He has an offer from Ottawa, Kan., and has drawn interest from the Air Force Academy, Baker and Truman.
