The 6’3″ Mennemeyer is enjoying a big senior year for the Trojans, averaging nearly 20 points and five rebounds a game. He is making 37 percent of his 3-pointers. This is coming off of a junior year when he averaged 22 points a game. Troy’s program has produced some excellent wing players in the past and Mennemeyer is the long line of shooters.
With his excellent size and shooting ability, Mennemeyer has gained interest from local Division II programs such as UMSL and Maryville and local top NAIA programs such as Columbia College and Lindenwood-Belleville.
As a senior, Mennemeyer has had to expand his role with more younger players in his supporting cast. He is also at the top of every team’s scouting report, so he’s spent a lot of time facilitating and getting his teammates more involved. With opposing teams trying to slow down his 3-point shooting prowess, Mennemeyer is also taking the ball to the basket and getting to the free throw line more often. He is averaging eight free throw attempts per game.
“I know I have to do a little more than just shoot, Mennemeyer said. “I’ve had to get in the lane and make plays and finish around the rim better. I also have to make more plays for my teammates.”
Mennemeyer was one of the top scorers at the recent Coaches vs. Cancer Holiday Tournament at Meramec. His goals for the rest of the season are to see his Trojans make a postseason run in late February and March. As a sophomore, Mennemeyer led a Troy team that entered the postseason with only five regular-season victories to an improbable district championship.
“We would like to make another run in the postseason again,” he said. “We fell we have a good chance in our district. We have to continue work hard and get better as a team.”
