Now, fast forward about four years and there is a whole lot more to Rogers and his game as well. Rogers is now a 6’6″ 210-pound senior who can make it happen from just about anywhere on the court.
Rogers fell in love with the weight room and the results have been outstanding for the senior forward, who is now one of the most potent offensive players in the St. Louis metro area. Rogers also wanted to play collegiate basketball and he felt the best route to the next level was through the weight room.
“I really wanted to play college basketball my whole life,” Rogers said. “I knew that if I was as skinny as I was, I wouldn’t be able to compete at the next level. I started taking the weight room seriously and that has added more elements to my game.”
Rogers also added a number of college scholarship offers along the way, thanks to his new-found love of the weight room. Rogers finally settled on Division II Truman State in Kirksville (MO) after considering Missouri Baptist and Colorado School of the Mines.
“I chose to commit to Truman State because it had the combination of what I was looking for in terms of basketball as well as academics,” Rogers said. “I really like the coaches as well and feel comfortable playing for them in college. I’m really excited for what lies ahead.”
As a junior, Rogers enjoyed a stellar season as he averaged 18.4 points and 9.4 rebounds while shooting 59 percent from the field in leading the Rams to a 17-10 record.
He is playing even better as a senior as he is currently averaging 23.5 points and 9.7 rebounds while shooting 57 percent from the field. Ladue is currently 7-3 heading into 2016.
