We are going to have a multi-part series including Stock Risers, Under The Radar, Standouts, New Faces, and Guys To Watch. We get going with a look at New Faces. Here are the list of guys who impressed enough to get on our radar so far this season, continuing with the small forwards.
Top Names
Chayton Howard
6’4 SF 2018 Edgewood
I like my Greene County area guys. Chayton Howard has quite a bit of upside and as only a sophomore it will be interesting to track over the next few years. A long, skinny wing who stretch the floor. Has a legit body and with some weight it will allow him to function more on the ball. Didn’t do a ton off the bounce but showed enough to think he can make strides there in the coming months.
Will O’Conner
6’5 SF 2018 Greenfield-Central
O’Conner is an even skinnier wing shooter than Howard. He’s probably a better shooter right now. He’s got a little bit of confidence with the ball in his hands. Likes to play down in the deep corners and then work baseline. Like Howard, he could really use some added weight but he’s going to be a naturally thin-framed kid.
Jensen Kellett
6’6 SF 2017 Northview
Kellett was a little deceptive early because you see his other 6’6+ teammates at Northview who are more like post players and you don’t think he’ll be much different but instead he’s a really skilled wing player. Can handle the ball well and put it on the deck and get at the rim. His size gives him an advantage as he can play over the top of defenders. Decent mid-range touch.
Adrion Gibson
6’3 SF 2016 Richmond
Gibson had a Top 5 performance this season when I watched him against Seton Catholic. Not sure if it is repeatable but it was impressive, that is for sure. He showed great touch on the 15′ arc. Hitting jump shots on the elbow and the free throw line over and over and over again. A little undersized for how he plays but a college could find a spot for him even if all he did was rebound and look for second chance points.
Ryan Fletcher
6’6 SF 2016 Covington
Fletcher could be a nice pickup for a small school at the end of this year. Tall wing who can shoot it really well. He’s got plenty of opportunities on this team to put up some big numbers and has done well in the pair of games I’ve seen. Can rebound fairly well but not really a guy who can grab a rebound in the midrange and then go and finish near the rim on a consistent basis. Scoring stems from his outside shooting.
