The two were neck and neck until a Thursday night avalanche of votes went the way of Dahlen and those final votes earned him the first player of the week honor for the 2015-16 season.
Zach has led his team in scoring each game and had a double-double in each of the first two contests. He put up 20 points and 11 rebounds against Fargo South and then had 26 points and nine rebounds in an overtime loss to Turtle Mountain.
Devil’s Lake is back in action tonight hosting West Fargo in their home opener. The 6-foot-3 Dahlen, a small forward, has teamed with guard Jacob Mertens to become the 1-2 punch of North Dakota’s junior class.
As a sophomore Dahlen scored 16.4 points per game which was good for 6th in the EDC Conference. He’s off an even better start as a junior.
