Vote now for Ohio Player of the Week
A busy first few days this week before the holiday break. Here are some of the top performances in Ohio this past week:
Xavier Simpson, Lima Senior: The senior point guard and Michigan signee had 59 points in a win over Fremont Ross. It was the most by anyone in Northwest Ohio since Jon Diebler in 2006. Also had 21 in a win over Dunbar over the weekend.
Nick Ernst, Clermont Northeastern: The senior guard had 41 points in a 65-57 win over Georgetown Dec. 15.
CJ Fleming, La Salle: The junior guard had 28 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 59-40 win over Withrow. He had five 3-pointers.
A.J. Gareri, Ellet: The junior forward set a school record with 45 points in a game and also chipped in 18 rebounds and four blocks against Firestone Dec. 18. Earlier in the week, he had 19 points and 10 rebounds against Kenmore.
Markell Johnson, East Tech: The junior guard scored 44 points in a win over Glenville and 41 points in a loss to Columbus Northland. The junior is now averaging 38.3 ppg.
Ricky Lightner, Holland Springfield: The senior point guard had 20 points in a win over Findlay on Wednesday night and 17 points and four assists in a win Saturday night over Toledo Central Catholic.
Luke Rudy, Oak Hills: The junior guard had 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 71-64 win over Lakota West. He was 11 of 11 from the free-throw line. He had 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 51-42 win at Sycamore Dec. 15. He’s had four consecutive games of 20-plus points.
