Mooresville busted out of the gate and put up a 15 points lead heading into halftime on Decatur Central (2-4). DC came back in the second half and got it within 9 points early in the fourth quarter but the distance was too great.
Mooresville:
K.C. Earls
6’1 – CG – 2016
Earls was stellar in this game leading his team in almost every facet of the game. Decatur Central was able to put some pressure on Earls, especially in the second half, and he held his own. He’s a competent ball handler and while suited better off the ball, he’s got more than enough grit and skill to stay on it. He shot the ball pretty well going 4/7 from three and 7/11 from the field, 6/6 from the FT line. A guy that should get quite a few more looks at NAIA/DIII range. – 22 points, 4 reb
Landon Harder
6’2 – SG – 2016
Harder was solid this game, providing support on the perimeter on the offensive end and post of the defensive end. He wasn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint and get some tough rebounds (5 of them). He’s got a decent dribble-drive game and found a way to create scoring opportunities for himself. Decent size and frame that should add weight. – 9 points, 5 rebounds
Luke Kenney
6’5 – PF – 2016
While Earls put up the points, Kenney’s 14 rebounds was maybe the most impressive of the night. Decatur Central isn’t a soft team but Kenney hasn’t been the toughest guy. Tonight he had to get in there and mix it up and quite a few of his boards were fighting. He’ll add strength in college and his offense should blossom a bit. He’s a guy that a DIII/NAIA could take a chance on and get a nice reward from. – 9 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists
Cameron Harris
6’1 – PG – 2016
Harris was really, really interesting tonight. Not a guy that I’ve seen much of before but was great in this one. 6’1 guard with a decent body. Average physically but he had such a knack for finding his teammates tonight. He had a few really good dumpoffs in the post, some long passes in transition, some in the half court. Went 2/5 from the field but a guy to watch the rest of the season. – 7 points, 8 assists
Decatur Central:
Tyrone Tracy
5’11 – PG – 2018
Tracy had a tough game offensively and really didn’t pick up any points until late in the game but he was pretty good defensively. Got moved around a few times but had spurts where he could create a steal on the perimeter and get it in. Has to pick his jump shots a little better and rely more on getting to the rim. – 4 points, 3 rebounds
Antoine Divine
6’1 – PG – 2016
Divine is really one of the better creators of his own shot. He showed that tonight getting to the free throw line and on the perimeter and few times at the hole. His issue is he struggles to hit those shots. Good form, good release, just touch is off. Has tons of upside because he can run the point. Can be a decent rebounder but he’s got to get teammates involved when his shot doesn’t fall. – 11 points, 5 rebounds
Bryce Jefferson
6’2 – SG – 2018
Looks the part of a high-end football recruit, Jefferson showed promise tonight using his energy and athleticism to get into good spots to make plays. He doesn’t have a ton of basketball skill but looks like he can get some quickly. Hit a three and another little runner at the rim. Can handle the ball and was active in the post on rebounds. – 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists
Damani McEntire
6’3 – SF – 2018
McEntire, like Jefferson, is going to be a really nice football prospect. Where Bryce has the better feel for the game, Damani has the better body and stronger frame. He plays more on his body and athleticism than anything else right now but is still able to impact the game. Picked up a lot of fouls but proved to be a solid defender on the perimeter. Long and strong and able to stay with about anyone on wing. – 2 points, 2 rebounds
Cameron Buck
5’11 – PG – 2016
Buck wasn’t the best guy in the first half but really helped to spur their run in the second half. Really the only player that was able to get some threes to fall. He went 3/6 from deep, 4/9 from the field. Buck isn’t going to blow you away with his speed but just quick enough to get up where he has a decent vertical on his jumpers to help create space. – 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists
