A 5-foot-10 2016 playmaker, Holloway is a three-year starter at the point who has helped lead the Hawks to a 7-1 start to the 2015-16 season.
“He is a really smart basketball player who really understands the game,” Hazelwood Central head coach Josh Martin said. “He can really stretch the defense and make shots.”
Holloway drew interest from a wide range of schools, including Missouri Baptist, Missouri Western, Illinois-Springfield, Quincy and Truman State. In the end, however, Holloway chose a school with a winning tradition as he will attend Columbia (Mo.) College.
“I chose columbia because it seems like a great fit, the coach, the players, the school and the environment just felt like home!” Holloway said. “Coach Burchard is a Hall of Fame coach with over 600 wins ! He gets his players to their full potential!”
Holloway spent the offseason playing with the Illinois Jets.
“I didn’t play as much or start like I do with my high school, so it really helped me be well rounded and keep my composure,” Holloway said.
This season, Holloway is averaging 11.0 points, 2.0 assists and has recorded six steals in seven games. He is shooting 45 percent from the field and leads the team with 14 3-pointers made, shooting 39 percent from long distance.
“I’m a playmaker, I lead my team through tough games and I’m also a knock down shooter,” Holloway said. “I’m going to bring toughness and leadership to Columbia.”
