He has led the squad to a 7-1 record and is coming off a 38 point, 13-reound performance on Dec. 15 in a 90-67 won over Clinton.
A stretch forward who is a long, athletic 6-foot-7, Scroggins said he goes after every rebounder and is also a terrific shooter.
The numbers back him up. Scroggins has five straight games of grabbing at least 13 rebounds, including a 17-rebound game against Kirksville on Dec. 3. He is averaging 12.0 rebounds per game to go along with 23.3 points, 3.4 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.
Through the Tigers first seven games, he has made 16 3-pointers and is shooting 37 percent from long distance, 51 percent from the field and 80 percent at the free throw line.
He has worked in the offseason on his game off the dribble and is trying to become a more vocal leader as well.
Scroggins said former Missouri State Bear Rob Yanders, the founder of Yanders Law, has helped push his game to new heights.
“Playing for Yanders Law, really was a blessing for me, I can’t thank God and my summer coach Rob Yanders for the opportunity that was in front of me,” Scroggins said. “It is a great organization and have nothing better to say. I improve on my hustle defense and trying to defend on that team.”
He currently has an offer from Paine University, and is drawing interest from Clarke University, Drury University, Minot State, Knox, State Fair and University of Central Missouri.
