At 6-6, 225 pounds, Emmert is a strong and skilled post player who had a strong offseason with Bolivar in June and the Missouri Flight in the spring. After leading the team in scoring and rebounding as a sophomore, Emmert has taken his game to even greater heights this season.
He has drawn interest from Sam Houston State, Mercer, Evangel and College of the Ozarks.
“I have talked to a few more local schools, but not much in basketball has come up recently,” Emmert said.
Actually, because of his size and athleticism, Emmert has drawn more interest in football as a tight end. He has drawn interest from Purdue, Navy, Kansas State, and a few others.
Emmert said he has a tough decision ahead of him as basketball is his first love.
“That is what I have loved since I was little, but it is a business decision and is about what is going to get my school paid for and where can I go to do what I want to do in the future,” Emmert said. “It’s crazy to see that in the mail from those big schools (football), but I am pushing that aside right now during the season because everyone is chasing one goal. Everyone is fighting to get to Columbia.
“I don’t know what else our team needs to do to prove, but we are going to be here fighting until the end. We want to get back there this year and prove to people that last year wasn’t a fluke.”
