Outlook
1. Bolivar: Might be the top overall team in the Springfield area after outscoring Class 5 power Kickapoo in a jamboree. Liberators return all five starters and add some depth to its lineup as well. Keep an eye of 6-6 junior Brandon Emmert, one of the state’s top post players. Look for seniors Johnny Scott and Bryce Krueger and junior Conley Garrison to all have big seasons.
2. Rogersville: Wildcats playing without senior point guard Marcus Gorman, a four-year starter and son of head coach Rod Gorman. Look for senior guard Christian Brown to have a big season scoring the ball. Also a four-year varsity starter and son of a head coach, Brown gets buckets in a variety of ways. Keep an eye on freshman Luke Vandersnick, the son of an olympic volleyball player.
3. Marshfield: Team has a pair of talented players, including returning all-conference selection Dallas Crider (2016) and 6-3 forward Wyatt Findley (2016). Both players are capable of lighting it up from long distance.
4. Catholic: The Irish are being led this season by Rockhurst signee Garrison Howell (6-2, 2016) who plays his summer ball with Yanders Law. Howell is a strong outside shooter has developed his all-around game. Also keep an eye on freshman Charlie O’Reilly, a talented all-around player.
5. Reeds Spring: Team is off to a 3-3 start. The Wolves have one of the league’s top scorers in Jarod Cole, who shot better than 40 percent from 3 last season. Cole is averaging 16.7 ppt through the first six games. Senior Adam Taylor is averaging nearly a double double through the early going, putting up 8.3 points and 9.2 rebounds.
6. Hollister: Team has got off to a tough 0-3 start, but pulled out a big 57-54 win over league rival Catholic.
7. Buffalo: Young team still trying to find its way after a rough couple seasons.
