Little Wound: Won twelve straight before the state tournament and then at state earned 4th place…The Mustangs were led by 7-foot-1 center Nate Brown Bull who is now at Florida International this year at the D1 level. Brown Bull has played in four games but only six minutes total this season so far…Little Wound had a banner year but just about everybody that played was a senior. The only guys that saw some time last year and are returning are seniors Shilo Tillman and Jeremiah Hopkins as well as junior Robert Shangreaux…Tillman and Shangreaux both had several double figure scoring games so Little Wound will still be capable of putting points on the board despite graduation of many…
Pine Ridge: The Thorpes went 8-13 last season ending the year on a four game losing streak after building a four game win streak at the start of February…Half of their rotation needs to be replaced and there are only a couple seniors…Rod Martin is a freshman guard to pay attention to…The top four scorers are gone but Martin, now a sophomore, junior Mike Brave, 6-foot-5 junior Greg Brewer, and undersized four man Joe Cournoyer return with experience. Brave had some big scoring games a year ago, Brewer was solid as well…
Red Cloud: After putting up 17.7 points per game last year, 6-foot-3 small forward Kobey O’Rourke is back to lead Red Cloud. Kobey also put up 8.6 rebounds, four assists, and three steals a game…O’Rourke will have Terrell Pulliam back in the backcourt taking on a bigger role and Robert Looks Twice is also back after a healthy junior year at eight points a contest…Marty Richards and Jack Fast Wolf are both seniors who played important roles a year ago. Richards is an excellent athlete…They prepped for the season by winning two or three college team camp championships…O’Rourke, Richards, and Pulliam were starters last season…
St. Francis Indian: Shane Witt gave St. Francis eight points a night as a sophomore and is now entering his upperclassmen years as a 5-foot-9 guard. Next to Shane as always is Thane Witt who pretty much had similar numbers as a sophomore…Other veteran guards back are junior Yamni White Hat and senior Buzz Jordan…Joe Four Horns and 6-foot-4 Isaac Walker played in some games last year and are now juniors…Won 14 games last season….
Todd County: Five-foot-10 senior guard Austin Hammer produced ten points a contest and five boards each game. Hammer returns with 6-foot-2 backcourt mate Dru Espinoza who is also now a senior. Dru scored 9.5 points on average in 20 games last season…Six foot guard Gunner Piper scored a couple times a game a year ago as a junior…A nine win club a year ago…
Winner: Won 23 games a season ago earning the third place trophy for Class A basketball…They had a regular season where all but two of their wins were by double figures…There is talent in the junior class so Brett Gardner’s team will continue to rack up the wins for a long time to come…Devon Leiferman is a talented 6-foot-5 power forward that is versatile, agility, and consistently productive as he’s a tough match-up for most…The loss of Nate Galbraith is tough to replace but guards Lattrel Terkildsen and Drew DeMers will offset some of that. With Devon inside, the returning guards having the ball, Winner will be tough again…
