This includes looking for a good basketball fit and a school with a strong pharmacy program to help him beyond the court.
For now, that means focusing on the four schools that have offered him and he has already taken visits to in Purdue-Calumet, Huntington University, Marian University and Saint Francis (Ind.), as well as interest from a fifth school in Maryville.
It is no surprise these schools have told the 6-foot-2 senior, ranked No. 50 in the Monday update to the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 200, they like his ability to score.
“They (college coaches) think that I’m a great shooter and that I can score the ball really well,” Burk said. “They said I’m pretty solidly built already for being in high school, too.”
The coaches have said they plan to use him as a shooting guard and he has the ability to take the jumpshot from nearly everywhere on the court. He is also working on improving what he can do closer to the basket.
“I’m improving my finishing ability around the rim and my ball handling,” Burk said. “I feel there is always something I can get better at and more consistent at.”
With these abilities, Burk said he plans to make a decision during this high school season, perhaps this month, or in December. This means it won’t be long into his final high school season before Burk shows where he is taking his shooting ability. It also means he can focus on what he hopes will be a special high school season for Franklin Central.
“I feel like our high school team is going to be really good this year,” Burk said. “We have three returning players and we have two transfers, and I feel like we can win regionals this year and make it to semi-state.”
