The Lewis Cass junior decided to find a way to get better and it has now led to one of his best attributes as a player – his shooting.
“I played without an ACL for two years and didn’t have flexibility on it and couldn’t do anything except shoot,” Ohman said.
That time created one of the better shots in the state for the 6-foot-3 shooting guard. It has also begun to interest college coaches for the No. 45 player in the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 100.
He has already started to hear from Indiana Wesleyan and Grace College and hopes to start gaining more interest this season and into next summer’s AAU tournaments. The coaches see him playing at the two spot mainly, or as a smaller three if needed.
“They obviously like my shot, but they like the defense I play,” Ohman said. “They also like the way I look for my teammates on the floor.”
He is also still looking to improve. While he trusts his shot, he hopes he can continue to develop other areas to go along with it this season.
“I’m trying to get out of the mindset and mentality of settling for the shot and have more focus on getting to the basket, and when I have the open shot take it, but mainly trying to get more athletic and get to the basket more,” Ohman said.
If his game can improve he could also help lift his high school team to strong heights.
“I’ve never been so excited to play a season in my life,” Ohman said. “I feel as a team we kind of control as far as we want to go.”
