<p>After a very productive summer playing with a couple Texas grassroots teams, <strong>Mike Layssard</strong> has decided to commit to Rhode Island. He visited this week and was hosted by incoming freshman Christion Thompson who played with him on Nike Team Louisiana a couple summers ago. </p><p>There was speculation Layssard would leave Northwood-Lena but he made it clear he will be finishing his high school career there before heading north to a campus Lamar Odom and Cuttino Mobley once graced. When asked about Rhode Island, he simply said, "It's a perfect fit for me."</p>
<p>His mom accompanied him on his visit this weekend and Mike told us she loved it which of course played a part in the decision. He'll bring a vast array offensive ability to the Rams as a pick and pop player. Layssard can score on every level and has range that extends past the three point line. Not bad for a 6'8+ forward with is strength and size.</p>
