2016 Franklin Community guard Cameron Smith made his college decision as he heads to Purdue-Calumet next year. The 6'2 guard is the first player in the recruiting class for Purdue-Cal and this one brings some versatility.
“Perfect fit,” Smith said of his decision to commit to Purdue-Calumet. “Got a good scholarship, the coaching staff is awesome, the players are great and you earn a Purdue degree.”
A number of schools had tracked Smith of the last few years as he provides an instant impact body for a non-DI program. Schools such as Bethel, Wabash, Hanover, Franklin, and Manchester had all offered and were in the hunt.
“I think I can bring hard work and never giving up,” Cam said of what he brings as a player to his new school. “I can bring toughness and just have a hard-nosed approach to everything and then rub off on the players and get them to play hard-nosed as well.”
Cameron will play off the ball but most colleges have had the intention of developing him as an all-around guard who can spell the point guard at times.
