Louisiana Class of 2016 Stock Risers – July

<p>The class of 2016 is one of the deepest classes in recent memory. The number of players who will sign at the high major level is something that is new to this state recently. The ones that follow and will play college on the D1 level as well is an extremely long list. Players in the D2-NAIA range or that will go JUCO puts this class as deep as we’ve seen in this state. These are players who used July to either solidify just how high their stock is or completely burst onto the scene.</p><p>First of all, these two weren’t sleepers and were certainly on the radar the past two years but the duo from McDonough 35 in <strong>DeJon Jarreau</strong> and <strong>Brison Gresham </strong>really cemented their national status. Jarreau being healthy again was all it took for him to really excel in July. The long guard who possesses elite level quickness on his near 6’6 frame put up big numbers. Big man Gresham was one of the hardest working players on the court throughout July. His ability to change a play on the defensive end and rush past defenders to finish on the break is very impressive. They will commit together as a package deal and one school will be very lucky.</p> <p>Their July teammate <strong>Garrick Green</strong> from Scotlandville is another who really showed off his improvement. The ability to defend the perimeter as a combo forward is something he showed off in July. The long range shooting wasn’t always a highlight in his game but his confidence to shoot the ball made it very consistent this summer. He’s got a D1 offer and more will likely follow.</p> <p><strong>Wayde Sims</strong> (UHigh) and <strong>Lamar Peters </strong>(Landry-Walker) are two players who committed before July to LSU and Miss St respectively and it allowed them the freedom to not stress at all. The results were impressive. Sims shot the ball extremely efficiently from deep and scored at a very high clip to add to his top level rebounding. Meanwhile, Peters who can score the ball at will showed off his ability to make everyone around him better with big assist totals.</p> <p>These next two players couldn’t be much more different in playing styles. <strong>Noah Griffin</strong> from Archbishop Hannan is one of the better shooters in the state and the lefty has a very quick release. His improvement getting to the rim and using his offhand get him on the list. <strong>Roydell Brown</strong> from Helen Cox is a high level athlete who is known for big time dunks and athletic finishes. His game continues to develop from outside, thus raising his stock.</p> <p><strong>Chris Lewis</strong> from ASH recently committed to LSUA and had other offers to choose from. The big man from the Central Louisiana area is certainly one who has a blossoming game and was a great get for the NAIA school. <strong>Toronco Loston</strong> from Captain Shreveport is a score first point guard who has come on as of late.
