Kolton Peterson, a sharpshooting Lakewood junior, announced via Twitter on Sunday that he had received his first offer from the Air Force Academy.
Air Force also offered 2017 wing Jalen Sanders this week, according to the Valor Christian player’s Twitter account.
Peterson’s strength is an ability to score in bunches. He averaged 23 points per game as only a sophomore at Lakewood last season, leading the entire state in scoring for much of the season.
Peterson, the fifth-ranked player in Prep Hoop Colorado’s 2017 rankings, shot 48 percent from the floor last season and 44 percent (93-of-212) from the 3-point line.
Peterson was hot all summer for his Shining Stars AAU team, which he led to a top-8 finish at the Sunflower Showcase during the final July evaluation period, scoring 32 points with seven 3-pointers in one game.
Peterson has received attention from several other Division I programs, and this rising wing with improved defensive skills is sure to see more offers on the way.
