The Hoyas from California won but they had to do it in the final minute and this game included: five technical, fans yelling at opposing players, players taunting fans, numerous fouls, several shoves, odd officials, too many whistles at times and not enough at other times. Down right odd. Whatever the case, here is our player rundown.
The Rundown: Scouting Notes
Garrett Bickett. Young Garrett came off the bench and provided two quick treys which had the fans burst out of their seats. This 2018 changed the pace of the game igniting an 11-0 run for the Phenom….
KyJuan Johnson. KyJuan was a bit quiet and then exploded with a three make, a steal, and then a lay-up in a short time. He also found Bickett with a couple passes helping the young man get a comfortable feet set finish…KyJuan was the choice of his coach to shoot foul shots on a technical…Opened half two with a pair of attacks and then a putback score when his guy forgot to box him out. Constant attack…
Aanen Moody. Knocked out two incredibly fast releasing jumpers in rapid fashion. One of the fastest releases I’ve ever seen to be honest…Very good rebounding guard. Had four boards in the first five minutes of the game…Love how Aanen curled a screen for a dribble hand off taking away space from his man, grabbing the ball and using that quick release to hit three number three…Scored maybe the biggest buckets of the night when he hit a trey on a kickout and then scored the next time down with a great up and under moving an overly anxious defender…
Nate Symens. Definitely like the way Nate’s pull-up jumper looks. Good lift, soft touch, nice rhythm. Really like his potential to do a lot of things…With his feet set Nate’s jumper looks just as pretty. Made a big one in the second half to go up nine points…
Sololmon Garter. You need a good scree? This guy is your man. Immovable post that was bumped and pushed without being off-balance or changing expression…Had a huge finish late in the game after a nice pass from DeSean. Tough kid, seems dependable in position…
Josh Kihle. Was the strongest player on the floor and instantly used his girth to produce an on-balance deep post score…Has a oh-hum look to him but when the ball in his hands around the bucket Josh takes care of business. When a guy wants to get physical he just stares at the man not backing down…
DeSean Allen-Eikens. If the ball comes off the rim and it’s in his area it’s an easy board. Despite being a year young than everybody he’s so much more physical than the rest that he bounces to the ball before others can react…After missing a couple threes DeSean made a step back trey that was exactly what you are looking for in that type of play… DeSean attacked and had his shot blocked but seconds later had the ball back off an in-bound play, attacked the same guy and then split him an a help defender for a touch-in four footer…
