Welch could come out to the Sophomore ID Camp and make a statement. He’s a playmaker with the ball in his hands. I like the way that Welch utilizes ball fakes and shot fakes to create space. He has a really nice looking pull up jumper from mid range as well. I’d love to see him go to work in Grand Rapids.

Some chefs can get the cooking done with a quickness and that seems to fit Welch’s style of basketball. He’s a talented guard that’s at his best pushing pace. Welch doesn’t let the ball stick in his hands, but instead moves it and keeps the action going.

Welch was an exciting player to watch in Grand Rapids. He was a versatile and athletic guard that can play on or off the ball effectively. Welch got downhill and didn’t hold the ball too long or over dribble. He played the game fast and effectively. Welch was excellent at using the pass to create pace. He advanced the ball fast and efficiently with accurate down the floor passes.

Welch would be a must watch prospect at the PH Michigan Freshman Showcase. He has impressive start-stop speed making him difficult to stay in front of for defenders. Welch can attack with both hands and finish on either side of the rim. He’s an energy player that’s more than willing to put his body on the line for a loose ball.
