Zion Copeland
About Zion
Expert Analysis
Jam Hines | Prep Hoops Scout
The physical tools and upside is so intriguing with Copeland. Playing for Metro All-Stars , Copeland challenged shots at the rim and offered glimpses of his play finishing prowess highlighted by a big two hand slam from a drop off pass. Despite the fact Copeland’s frame is so wiry, he didn’t back away from contact and often looked to finish through it off of two feet.

Copeland continues to flash impressive long-term potential as he develops into his future role for Coach Rob Nickens team. The fluid 2027 big man alters the game defensively with solid rim-protecting ability and timing. Offensively, he shows soft touch around the basket and growing confidence stretching the floor from deep. Copeland’ combination of mobility, shot-blocking, and inside-out scoring tools makes him one of the top bigs in the DCIAA leage with potential.

Zion was a major factor for Roosevelt during DC Live and has been on a nice run during Summer League play as well. He has very good coordination as a forward so Zion can finish a lot of plays underneath. Perfect big that you want in the dunkers’ spot, as he catches through traffic and puts up the layup quickly. Zion makes his opportunities count at the basket, follows up his misses with an offensive rebound. Gets out and runs on the fast break to create numbers for his team, and stays ready to catch and finish as a trailer. X-Factor type of player for Roosevelt, when he plays well the team usually follows suit.
