Sheets has been having a huge AAU season so far this year and I can see why. He is the head of the snake for his very good NW Ohio Basketball 17U squad. He seriously controls the paint. He is a next-level athlete already and is a fully down low. He puts kids on his back and does whatever he wants. He consistently put kids underneath the basket and finished all game. He is a good rebounder and second-chance scorer as well. He stuck out to me with his toughness and physicality. Big fan of his game and he plays basketball the right way.

I caught NW Ohio’s last pool play game and after a strong start, they couldn’t finish off an unbeaten pool play record. Sheets was getting things going early with his physicality and rebounding. Sheets has grown an inch since the last time I saw him play and was punishing guards in the paint off switches from his screens. One of the more productive bigs from NW Ohio, Sheets should have plenty of small college interest due to his size and scoring ability in the paint.

Sheets was another player who came up short in the state title game but his playoff run was impressive to watch. His ability to score around the rim and punish smaller teams with his back to the basket made him a match-up problem as a Sophomore. With the coordination to put it on the floor and finish at the rim, Sheets can space you out then use his size to finish through you at the rim. When he naturally gets stronger over the next few years, you’ll see Sheets be even tougher to stop on the block and be more explosive as a leaper. I want to see where Sheets is at as a shooter with a limited sample so far.

Sheets is a player. I’ve always been high on this kid since I first saw him play but he has improved so much that he is now a player. He has gotten bigger and more athletic. He is listed at 6’5 and he seems to have gotten much bigger and stronger. He sort of floats around when he runs because it’s so smooth and then he’s got some real explosion on his jumps. He showed great presence on the defensive end. He was phenomenal at rim protection and was locking down all five positions. Offensively he is a great slasher that is kind of like a train on the railroad because he is tough to stop when he gets it going. Quick and strong rips from the wing and creates contact when taking it to the rim.

One of the guys I was most excited to watch on Tuesday, Sheets did a lot of damage in the paint, scoring on the undersized Mohawk defense. With his back to the basket Sheets was tough to stop and he did a good job of making himself available when the Crestview guards would attack the basket. I’d want to see if Sheets can also space the floor with a jumper, but he was productive on the interior that I left the game impressed with his performance.
