Himmons made his presence felt with his relentless hustle and determination. He pursued every loose ball with maximum effort, displaying tremendous energy and competitive spirit. As a rebounder, his natural sense of timing and anticipation allowed him to predict the ball’s trajectory and position himself for key rebounds. Himmons’ rebounding instincts and willingness to battle in the paint added great value to his team on both ends of the floor.

Vander is an undersized post player but is hard nosed and anchored the defense for his squad. When his coach switched to a 2-3 zone on the defensive end, Vander communicated and directed rotations to his teammates. This type of leadership is rare in showcase camp settings and was a pleasure to watch. Vander is always crashing the boards and both ends.

Vander is a strong, solid player that is an absolute force in the paint. From what I saw in multiple games, I imagine he has to be a double-double machine every time he plays. He’s versatile and has range that extends beyond the arc, so he can stretch the floor and create wide open lanes for his teammates to capitalize on. He’s a great cutter and finisher in the pick and roll and an intelligent passer with the ability to make quick, great decisions. He’s stifling on defense with his substantial stature and active hands. His IQ is off the charts for his age and he’s always aware of the clock and what the opposition is giving him. He’s a beast on the glass on both ends of the floor and regularly gets second and third looks at the rim. Himmons is going to have a ton of attention going forward and it’s well warranted.
