Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
Smith is a long, lean combo guard who showcased his perimeter shot making ability and creativity finishing in the paint. He attacks the basket effectively, draws contact and gets to the free throw line. He also handles the ball well enough to serve as a secondary ball handler against defensive pressure.

Tyson is a small guard who showed his ability to score from all levels as well as his ability to initiate the offense. He was one of the younger guys at camp and his next step is improving how quickly he connects his individual skill with the rest of the offense as the ball stuck with him too much at times. As he becomes more decisive about when to attack, shoot, or deliver the next pass he will see his offensive tools help the offense stay fluid. His massaging of the ball gave the defense time to reset around him after he initially created an advantage. Tyson can make his floor game more effective by keeping the ball moving and allowing his shooting to work within the team’s rhythm.

Smith was one of the few players from outside the Carolinas who made the trip up to Rock Hill for the day. He is a solid backcourt player, capable of being effective in position because of good playmaking skills. Tyson will also punish defenses that leave him open on the perimeter, so he will be a fun one to watch from afar over the next three years at Baldwin High School.
