Hayward has the makings of a prospect who can outplay this ranking considerably in the long-term. This season has been the one where the 6-foot-4 guard/wing has blossomed onto radars of four-year programs and prep schools due to his blend of fluidity and untapped potential. He’s the spearhead for a Wicomico team that is headed to the Class 2A title game and thanks to his size and athleticism, the Indians should have a strong chance at walking away with the state title. Hayward’s progression over the last year has been noteworthy and the reason why he should be viewed as a late-blooming steal. He jumped from No. 156 to No. 107 in this last edition of the rankings.

Stock-rising event for Hayward, who will be one of the better prospect in Wicomico County this season. At 6-foot-4, he brings good size as an off-ball guard or wing who can use his length to thrive in transition. He has good footwork on euros or playing off two around the rim. He can shoot it with space and showed off some decent vision as a slasher when commanding help. Overall, Hayward is a guy who I think could benefit from a post-grad prep year given his age and the stage of his body development. He was outstanding on the glass for his position as he averaged 14 points and 8.5 boards per game.

Hayward is a rangy swingman who found different ways to stay relevant in the game. He has a nose for scoring on the interior and is a walking double-double without a play being drawn up. I like how he sought out contact on the attack and made a handful of trips to the foul line. He could become a more consistent threat from deep but showed he can make the occasional one. Hayward would be a great fit at the two year level or at a prep school.
