This guard has been living in rare air for about a year. He was First Team All State last winter joining several seniors as the best in the state. He was the top 15u Player in Kansas this year after earning the 15U MVP in the Pro16. Gillum is now a nationally ranked talent and there is only going up from here.

The 15U MVP of the Pro 16/NXT Pro/Puma Circuit also earned a D1 offer, became a nationally ranked player, and pretty much put his name on the national map after an incredible 15u season.

-Ultra smooth southpaw point guard prospect that gets to his spots effectively in the halfcourt and is always a threat to score. Love the pace that he plays with coming off of ball screens, often using a hesi dribble right after the screen to freeze the helper and force the defense to commit before he delivered the correct read. Gillum doesn’t need a ton of space to get off his shot and had success against a variety of different defenders both on the perimeter in the halfcourt and in transition. Gillum also showed an ability to manipulate the defense effectively with his eyes and possesses an ambidextrous handle that allows him to capitalize on live dribble reads to hit the roller, the shake, or skip opposite to his shooters. 

The 6’1 Gillum was the lone first team all state player at 4A that was not a senior, and he was a freshman last season. Gillum led his team to a 24-2 season and a spot inthe state tournament.

How good was Gillum with PAC in the Pro 16? He was the 15u and Under MVP for the entire league. Gillum was so good this summer that he is one of the few 2029 players in the nation to receive a D1 offer and that came from Eastern Michigan.

Selected as the 15U Pro16 League Most Valuable Player this summer, it’s easy to see where Gillum sits both regionally and nationally. July saw the young guard really turn heads with his quick, deceptive handle paired with a lightning-fast release and deep range. His shot-making ability is unique, and he needs only a sliver of space to let it fly.

Don’t label him as just a shooter, though. Trey’Von also showed he can create off the bounce and finish through contact around the rim, especially with a crafty left hand. He’s adept at using different dribble pickups to get through gaps or around defenders, making him an even tougher cover once he gets into rhythm.

Now headed to North Kansas City this fall, Gillum should see a higher level of competition and have the opportunity to make his mark on an even bigger stage. Regardless, he’ll be one of the premier names in the Kansas City metro to keep a close eye on this winter.

An effortless player, Gillum’s game translates extremely well, especially on the offensive end. He has a smooth left-handed stroke that he can get to whenever he wants and connects at a high percentage from behind the arc. He’s a volume shooter, and when he gets hot, he continues to hunt his shot and find openings whether operating with or without the basketball. Trey’Von is also a sneaky athlete, showing he can play in the open floor and hang in the air around the rim as a finisher when needed. Easily one of the top players — if not the top player — in the state for the 2029 class.

Trey’Von is a high-motor competitor who consistently gets after it on both ends of the floor. He plays with an aggressive edge offensively, attacking gaps, pursuing rebounds, and putting constant pressure on the defense. On the defensive end, he takes pride in his work, guarding with intensity, physicality, and discipline. Trey’Von’s willingness to compete possession by possession sets the tone for his team, and his effort level rarely wavers, making him a dependable presence in high-energy and high-leverage moments.

Trey’von has been on the radar for years, and his upward trajectory continues as he enters high school. Widely regarded as one of the most skilled players in the Midwest, Gillum combines deep shooting range with a long, fluid frame that allows him to slice through defenses with ease. He’s at his best with the ball in his hands, consistently creating advantages off the dribble and making smart, timely reads. Whether it’s pulling up from deep or attacking downhill, Gillum brings a dynamic offensive presence that makes him a constant threat. With his advanced skill set and high ceiling, Gillum is poised to make an immediate impact at the high school level.
