Another one of the Lowcountry’s 2030s to know heading into the season is Kershaw. Travis led Wando in minutes as an 8th grader a year ago and flashed some very impressive things. He is very comfortable attacking the paint off the dribble, plus has the length and skill to score once he gets there. Kershaw has a ton of upside on both ends of the floor, so he should be one who people around the Charleston area are excited to track going forward.
Another prospect who led the way with his ability to handle the basketball and create mismatch opportunities in the pick-and-roll game and in the fastbreak; did well to get rebounds out of the net and push the pace, looking to constantly find easy buckets for himself and others; impressed with his ability to defend both inside and out given his length and athleticism; will be one to watch at Wando High
Kershaw was impressive in a variety of ways; showcased an ability to get the ball off the rim on def. rebounds and push the pace for easy layups in transition; versatility allowed him to show he could knock down shots on the perimeter, handle the basketball and defend multiple spots on the floor; nice length already for his size at 6-foot3
From early reviews, Travis is the best freshman prospect in Charleston. He has been impressive in almost every game I’ve watched him play, simply affecting the game positively in a variety of ways. As he continues to improve his outside shot and develop physically, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Kershaw end up as one of the better guards or wings in his class.
Speaking of early names to monitor for the 2030 Rankings, Travis is one whom I want to see as much as possible to project his long-term ceiling. This was my third look at Kershaw this summer and my third different situation to observe him in. He is free to be a spot-up scorer for this USC Unleashed squad, and at 6’3″, he has the positional size to be effective on the wing. Travis is a solid outside shooter and can finish with craft around the rim when he drives closeouts. As he continues to improve his jumper and gets stronger, it would be easy to see Kershaw become one of the best prospects in the Palmetto State.
