Tamaren may have had the quickest first step of anyone I watched this weekend. The lightning-fast guard consistently put pressure on defenses with his burst and ability to create off the dribble. Playing for the Motor City Dragons , he put his offensive skill set on full display. Against Common Bond , he repeatedly blew by defenders for easy finishes at the rim while also showcasing a tight handle that made him extremely difficult to contain in space. Defensively, he made several impressive hustle plays, including jumping passing lanes for steals seemingly out of nowhere. Tamaren’s stock is clearly trending upward after a strong weekend performance.

Campbell is a point guard through and through. He could probably put his head down and put the ball on the floor and post some impressive scoring numbers. But he plays smarter than that. Campbell knows that he’s at his best when he’s controlling pace and moving the ball.

The Belleville guard was seen at a Prep Hoops Circuit event, the Great Lakes Challenge, early in the spring. Campbell was a guard that certainly stood out at that event and I’ll be looking forward to seeing him follow up that performance. He was a shifty playmaker with the ball in his hands.
