Expert Analysis

Another CMAC standout, Keita is one of the rare players at the high school level averaging a double-double. I was impressed with the improved ball handling I saw from Keita in a preseason scrimmage. Also playing tough against top competition, Keita had 21 points on 8/10 shooting in Western Hills big win over Cincinnati Elder. A name to know from the Cincinnati area.

I was impressed with some of the skill development Keita showed me since the last time I watched him play. Keita looks more confident dribbling the ball in the open court and had a couple coast to coast takes off rebounds and steals. After knocking down just 10 3-pointers as a Junior, Keita knocked down a couple jumpers on Sunday as he continues to expand his range. His best plays came when he caught the ball on the perimeter and was decisive with his dribble drive attack, scoring multiple floaters and and-1 layups at the rim. After finishing fourth on his team in scoring last season, Keita seems ready to take on a leading role for the Mustangs this winter.

Western Hills had five players average over 9 PPG this season, showing their depth of offensive options. I was impressed with how Keita played in a playoff win over Kings. I attended two Western Hills games this season and Keita scored a season-high 15 points in both games. A strong forward who is starting to flash perimeter skill with shooting and ball handling flashes. His motor is another one of his better skills, averaging over 7 rebounds a game and almost two blocks. With three of the Mustangs top five scorers graduating, Keita could have a breakout senior season.

For a second straight season Western Hills knocks off Kings in a tight playoff battle that saw a fourth quarter run decide the game. Keita made some huge shots down the stretch with back-to-back jumpers that swung the momentum of the game. In the first half, Keita made a nice move putting it on the floor and finishing with an and-1 layup. Keita has been a steady presence for the Mustangs, averaging 10 points and 7 rebounds a night. With an off-season of development, he could be one of the top bigs in the CMAC as a senior.
