Sam Thacker was one of the biggest stars of last year’s playoffs, leading Providence Christian all the way to the state title game and nearly pulling off the upset. In the June live periods, Thacker let us know that he’s not slowing down. When he gets hot, there’s not telling how many will go through and we’ve seen him pour in 30 and 40+ on multiple occasions. Be on the lookout for Thacker and Providence Christian come February as 2A seems to be wide open this year.

Lights-out shooter broke out his junior season. Will be one of the top marksmen in Georgia during the travel circuit. Has deep range and a quick trigger. Heady with the ball, will make the extra pass to find the open man and is a threat to score off the dribble from the mid-range.

With 114 threes to his name, Thacker decided to further lengthen his lead in the record books by shooting 7-12 from beyond the arc as he finished with 22 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. The sharpshooter never hesitated when he saw a glimmer of space and launched from deep, burning the Patriots time and time again as the Storm went 17-34 from the three-point line. Thacker’s pure stroke and breakout season has vaulted him into the discussion as being one of the very best shooters in Georgia.

It wasn’t a prolific shooting night for the Storm’s all-time leader in three-pointers made in a season (114), but Thacker delivered when it mattered most and was still effective as a facilitator when not scoring. Samuel hit a three in the first quarter and didn’t find the bottom of the net from deep until late in the fourth when he sank a dagger from the corner to put the game out of reach, a 59-49 victory over Model. Thacker finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block. He did a good job finding the open man against the zone and coolly hit a pair of free throws to help ice the game.
